I put this shoot together recently as the 2012 Olympics has been on my mind, photographer Tanausu Herrera and i were mad about the idea of creating a 1936 Olympic story with a modern take. Anyone who knows my work im sure know i love a good futuristic factor, the idea of customization and sleek sportswear made me quite excited!
We did this story for online technology, art and fashion platform The Futurista. I created the arm/leg/chest/head protectors you can see in this story. This was also the first project of mine that i got to art direct! Really happy with the result! Thanks to everyone involved!

Part of the write up on The Futurista -

Inspired by the works of Leni Riefenstahl on her book of the 1936 Berlin Olympics, ‘Schönheit im Olympischen Kampf’ [Beauty in the Olympic Games]we have produced a shoot that not only takes on her already re-interpreted concept of classic ancient greek imagery, but leans towards a more futuristic vision. Leading up to the London Olympics 2012 and comparing those of 1936 with actual sports events, we can clearly see that today we have ever more powerful athletes and more world records broken, but who knows what the advancements in technology and science would bring for future Olympics.

Here is what she said of her work on the 1936 Olympics:

“What makes these pictures unique is that cameramen have never been allowed to work so close to the athletes at any other Olympics. It was a hard battle to obtain authorization for this from the IOC. Despite permission being granted, there were vehement disputes with the judges on a daily basis. One had to go to war to get the shots.” -Riefenstahl

Sorry i haven't blogged words in so long, things over the past few months have been a whirlwind of exciting travels and projects... For those followers of mine who take the time to leave lovely comments, tweets and post etc thank you so much!

Anyway, the images above are of my collaboration with the new duo talents on the London scene kicking the door down with their blast of color and stimulating prints.

With my broken colorful mess i wanted to smash the idea of a beautiful mexican garden fueled by testosterone and rebellious spirits of the dead down a fireplace and into the Agi&Sam SS/12 space.

I wonder what next season will bring!

Heres something that i did with Justin Wu in the studio a few days back. As you can probably tell from my work im fascinated with how certain materials flow, how heat and wind can transform... and then how it translates on camera. This wasnt too easy, quite frustrating infact but im obsessed with some of these shapes created. So many ideas come into my head when i look at this!!

Calvin Klein

To celebrate AnOther Magazine's 10th anniversary, 10 leading fashion designers sketched a fantasy birthday cake. Curated by Jefferson Hack and artist, food stylist and cookery writer Annie Nichols, the designers' wildest imaginings have been paired with the world's best cake makers to create the most delicious coming together of fashion and food ever seen. Ahead of their unveiling in Selfridge's Wonder Room Concept Store Lab from Tuesday 15 February.

AnOther asked me to come on board to create the showcases of both the Calvin Klein and the Givenchy cakes which were both displayed on opposite sides of the room. Calvin Klein wanted to bring the idea of an edible mobile in this interactive floating installation into reality.

I wanted to make the design of this stucture as simple but as interesting as possible and to involve the silver leaf into the strucuture as well as the suspended marshmellows.

Givenchy's cake featured masked humans and beastiality all on a three-tier erotic orgy made entirely from margarine by the talented Simon Smith which was then enchambered into a black shell with a peephole in everyside with a transparent roof for a full view of the x-rated detail!

Big thanks to the team who helped on this project couldnt have done it without you! Tonea Charlery, Charli Dugdale, Lorna Kelly and Eoin Dillon!

7th SAiNT is an upcomming performance artist and DJ based in Los Angeles who commissioned me a while back to design him a special headpiece! His recognised style being sharp and revealing led to this little creation of mine...

Just seen this and wanted to share it with you as the music made me excited and i think it looks fab! Pics are not too great quality but you get the idea...

Keep an eye on this one! Plus his remixes are good to listen to while getting dressed :D

Though i'd share this with you, here is a collection of photos i took on my trip to Chicago last year. The clean and rusty part of downtown where i stayed was a joy to visit, i managed to check out the modern art Chicago had to offer too which consisted of cloud gate and the modern art museum. The architecture alone was an eye catcher aswel as their unexpected weather storms.

If you're around the areas of East London and havent heard of that raw new brand with the aesthetic thats grabbing the attention of many then take note of Arckivs pop-up shop which will be lasting until the 20th of Dec. 11am - 7pm... I had a peek well more than a peek infact i walked in, had a look had a good chat with Frazer Laing himself, left then realised i didnt take any pictures to share what i feel is something needed to be seen so i went back inside and snapped away. So here is my documentary if you were so you can see!

So back in the Summer of 2010 while i was in Paris i was asked by my friend at 160g mag to model the stunning pieces for pictures due to accompany an interview with Erik Halley. Those who dont know of him he is an inspirational accessories designer from Paris.
You can see above me wearing some of his pieces looking rather happy to be in them. Being an accessories designer myself i can more than appreciate his aesthetic and in the interview he explains what his inspirations are for the pieces he makes. I find his work very interesting and i love how he is so adamant about the quality of his work. Working with Swarovski crystals to create these stunning sun dazzling pieces that you can see above.

Heres some things ive worked with Gary Card on recently... the sloth shoot was fun, Gary made them look so cute... was a little intense as we had the security hovering over our backs as we played with the pricey sparkly goods...

The other set of images was for a still life editorial for perfume bottles. We has to make them look all snazzy with bits and bobs. Recognise any of the bottles?
